Mok Mok (rhymes with ‘book book’) is a female entity from Wemba Wemba Country; a fearsome and powerful Ancestral woman who took babies for her own.
Artist, curator and cultural warrior Paola Balla will draw on this story of Mok Mok from Aunty Margret Tucker’s autobiography If Everyone Cared and other strong female figures, when she hosts the Yirramboi Supper Club at Arts House. Paola will be joined by artists Hannah Donnelly, Genevieve Grieves and Emily Johnson, to talk matriarchy, healing and story. Join them to uncover the role of strong women’s voices in disrupting colonial narratives.
