6 May 14 May Australia/Melbourne UNNATURALIZED http://yirramboi.net.au/events/unnaturalized/ Artist: REAL BLAK TINGZ (Arika Waulu x Gabi Briggs) Nation: Brayakaloong/Yigar/Tjapwurrung/Himberrong/Anaiwan/Gumbangier AUS Price ($): FREE Gabi Briggs and Arika Waulu come together as Real Blak Tingz to investigate and shift the power from an alien patriarchy to the ancient, ever-present Blak Matriarchy. We do so by intervening within public spaces and in the gallery through the act of curating and working with projection, video, photography, performance, as storytellers then as artists. Indigenous dominated spaces offers us autonomy, safety and empowerment. For too long there has been an erasure of us through a volatile colonial narrative that lights flame to a genocidal agenda. Join us as we curate your footpath around our space. Opening Night 7pm, 10 May RULES OF ENTRY: THIS IS A SAFE BLAK SPACE. A SPACE FOR BLAKFULLAS. REFUGEES WELCOME. IF YOUR BLOOD IS OF THE SETTLER, PLEASE RESPECT OUR REQUEST TO NOT ENTER. THIS IS FOR US; THIS IS FOR YOU. Join us on the Opening Night of UNNATURALIZED where we give our audience the above rules to comply to. We ask all to identify as either a Blakfulla, Refugee or Settler when coming into our space to celebrate a Blak Australia and in some way be immersed in an alternative universe. Join us for Blak art, performance and good food. Event is free. Signal RMIT School of Art art.school@rmit.edu.au
