Alan Stewart | Taungurung
No Justice, No Peace captures the breadth and depth of the Black Lives Matter Protest in Melbourne, 3 June 2020, through the lens of First Nations photographer Alan Stewart (Taungurung). This series of images contrasts the heart of the people who marched for change against Melbourne’s colonial urban landscape. Recognisable landmarks take on new meaning as they become the backdrop to a global social and human rights movement in the midst of a pandemic.
Analogue film photographer Alan Stewart was one of YIRRAMBOI’s Barring Yanabul artists, who presented the exhibition Maaman at the 2019 YIRRAMBOI Festival.
No Justice, No Peace is part of YIRRAMBOI’s Resilience in Isolation program. The program supports our First Nations creatives to continue their creative practices and development during the isolation.
