Discover the art of weaving with artist Glenda Nicholls (Waddi Waddi/Yorta Yorta/Ngarrindjeri) to make your own decorative nets using techniques passed on by Glenda’s ancestors.
Weaving references the cultural knowledge of the water and waterways, local plants and habitat passed on to Glenda by Elders throughout her childhood, camping and fishing along the Murray River close to Swan Hill. Glenda’s hands-on craft reflects the continuity of her family storyline, one she regularly connects with by spending time on traditional lands weaving and making artworks today.
This workshop celebrates the passing on of knowledge and know-how to new generations.
Please note: this workshop is designed for First Nations participants, but open to all. Glenda’s weaving technique is a special family skill handed down from her Ancestors. We ask that you respect this and do not share Glenda’s knowledge with others.
