Yothu Yindi & The Treaty Project

04 May $50–74 90 minutes

With special guests Shane Howard, Emma Donovan and more to be announced.

Yothu Yindi and the Treaty Project continue the ongoing fight for First Peoples recognition, inspired by the success of their 1991 hit song ‘Treaty’. The Treaty Project was initially launched in 2017, to celebrate the 25th anniversary remix package of ARIA Hall of Fame inductees Yothu Yindi’s ‘Treaty’ and raise awareness for the need for treaty with Australia’s First Nations people.

In this excitingly new, electronica-driven formation, founding members of Yothu Yindi – Stu Kellaway, Witiyana Marika and Kevin Malngay Yunupingu – are joined onstage by cabaret artist Kamahi Djordon King and emerging Yolngu singers, Yirrnga Yunupingu and Yimila Gurruwiwi. Joining them is multi-instrumentalist Ania Reynolds (the current musical director of Circus Oz), Kellaway’s son Roy on guitar, along with DJ/producer Gavin Campbell.

This is a cross-generational celebration of First Nations music and dance as powerful tools of protest. Hear new remixes of Yothu Yindi classics, courtesy of producers Nubreed, Lostep and Filthy Lucre, as well as brand-new material.
